Economical driving

New financial payments from 1 September 2026

Drive smart. Keep your score under control.

Economical driving is not about driving slowly. It is about smoothness, anticipation and using the vehicle correctly. It saves fuel and equipment, supports safer driving and can bring you a higher financial payment from September.

Did you know that your score is available on the tablet? In the WD application you can view the previous day’s driving score. The data is updated once every 24 hours.

Why focus on economical driving?

Smooth and anticipatory driving benefits the driver, the vehicle and the whole company.

A better scoreYou can monitor your score continuously and improve it in a targeted way.
Lower fuel consumptionFewer unnecessary accelerations and braking events mean less fuel used.
Smoother and safer drivingAnticipating situations reduces stress and helps protect the driver, the load and the equipment.

Two important things for every driver

First read the short guide. Then use the questionnaire to tell us how the assessment works in your specific operation.

How to do it in three steps

  1. Drive smoothly and anticipate. Use the engine brake, vehicle momentum and cruise control appropriately.
  2. Check your score on the tablet. The WD application shows the previous day’s score and what to focus on.
  3. Improve the individual parameters step by step. The guide explains which driving habits affect points and fuel consumption.

What can a score of 74 points mean?

Among drivers who pay at least some attention to economical driving and score more than 50 points, the average is approximately 74 points. This is a model example assuming the same result throughout the year.

74 pointsaverage among drivers above 50 points
CZK 4,800financial payment for one month
CZK 57,600for 12 months with the same result
Even 60 points means a financial payment of CZK 2,500 per month, or a model total of CZK 30,000 over 12 months with the same result.
Score Monthly financial payment at VCHD Cargo a.s.
60 points CZK 2,500
70 points CZK 4,500
74 points CZK 4,800
80 points CZK 5,500
100 points CZK 6,500

Applies to VCHD Cargo a.s. from 1 September 2026. Financial payments for VCHD Cargo GmbH drivers remain unchanged. At least 5,000 km must be driven in the given month. Exceeding 95 km/h and applying the parking brake while driving affect the financial payment; the complete rules are in the guide.

When drivers monitor economical driving, the difference is visible

In one analysed month of 2026, a total of 167 drivers achieved at least 70 points. Together they covered more than 1.5 million kilometres. Using a conservative model saving of 2 litres per 100 km, this gives:

167drivers with a score of at least 70 points
1.5m kmtheir combined distance in the analysed month
30,099 Lmodelled monthly diesel saving
approx. 950 t CO₂modelled annual benefit if the same result is repeated
How did we calculate these figures? Show the calculation and sources

1. VCHD source data

The calculation uses internal driver results from one analysed month in 2026: 167 drivers with a score of at least 70 points covered a total of 1,504,950 km.

2. Diesel and CO₂ saving model

The public model uses a conservative saving of 2.0 L/100 km. This is between the audited internal model result of 1.83 L/100 km and the original model curve of 2.38 L/100 km. The annual figure assumes that a month with the same result is repeated twelve times.

1,504,950 km ÷ 100 × 2.0 L = 30,099 L per month
30,099 L × 12 = 361,188 L per year
361,188 L × 2.6308 kg CO₂/L = 950,218 kg CO₂ = approximately 950 t CO₂ per year

3. Comparison with forest and football pitches

The average annual net uptake of EU forests is based on an average sink of 332.6 million tonnes of CO₂ in 2020–2022 and approximately 159.2 million hectares of EU forest, or about 2.09 t CO₂ per hectare per year. The result 950.2 ÷ 2.09 equals approximately 454 hectares, rounded to 450 hectares in the graphic. Using a model area of 0.714 ha for a standard pitch, 454 ÷ 0.714 equals approximately 636 pitches, rounded to 640 in the graphic.

These figures are transparent model calculations, not direct measurement of every litre of fuel or the exact carbon balance of a specific forest. The result depends on whether comparable performance is repeated in subsequent months.
